Booking-site prices for 290 Berlin hotels: how far apart they are

I built the tool used for this article and ran it myself on Apify. Every number below comes from the run IDs above.

What we measured

One run searched "hotels in Berlin" with per-site offers on: 290 hotels and 5,277 booking-site offers for the same check-in date.

Findings

• The median hotel had offers from 19 booking sites.
• For the median hotel, the most expensive offer was 40.4% above the cheapest.
• 209 of 265 hotels with two or more offers had a gap of more than 20%.
• 135 hotels had an offer from their own website; for 24 of them it was the cheapest or tied for cheapest.

Rate parity

Each offer is a row with provider, pricePerNight and totalPrice, so a parity check is a comparison per hotel and date. Offers are charged at $1.00 per 1,000.
