I built the tool used for this article and ran it myself on Apify. Every number below comes from the run IDs above.
The sample
I collected 4,608 reviews in one run: 2,224 from the App Store and 2,384 from Google Play. That is three apps per store in four countries (AU, GB, IN, US), sorted by most helpful. It is a sample of these apps, not of each store as a whole.
Star ratings
| Stars | App Store | Google Play |
|---|---|---|
| 5 | 41.1% | 29.4% |
| 4 | 18.0% | 12.6% |
| 3 | 11.5% | 11.4% |
| 2 | 6.2% | 11.6% |
| 1 | 23.2% | 35.1% |
In this sample, 35.1% of the Google Play reviews gave one star, against 23.2% on the App Store. Both samples are sorted by most helpful, so they show what users upvoted, not every review.
Why one schema matters
Both stores came back with the same 16 fields on every row, with null where a store has no value, and every row carries its country. That makes a cross-store table like the one above a single group-by.
